Dickenson West Fine Catering was founded in 1995 as a full-service catering company by a former restaurant manager and chef who wanted to apply their talents and classic European training in the creation of quietly elegant events for their clients. Operating from an office located within Derek's bistro, the company's showcase restaurant, Dickenson West Fine Catering offers the services of Catering Manager Caroline Armer, a team of chefs and service staff and the guiding hand of founder and proprietor Derek Dickenson for the planning of weddings, all-occasion parties, business meetings and major events.
Dickenson West Fine Catering operates under the philosophy that each party should be personally and individually planned to meet the specific needs, concerns and tastes of each host. Weddings and special occasion parties are created to make a statement about the host and capture the spirit and significance of the occasion. By contrast, corporate lunches and dinners are understated and unobtrusive affairs designed to provide a memorable dining experience in the midst of a business environment.
"While most of our clients have a general idea of what they would like for their party, it takes an experienced party planner to guide them on sound choices and to produce an event that meets -- and hopefully exceeds -- their expectations," says Dickenson.
Dickenson West Fine Catering specializes in California contemporary cuisine that is carefully prepared and creatively presented. Menu selections are wide-ranging and vary with the seasons to take advantage of the freshest and finest local offerings. Wine and spirit selections come from the house menu that was recently awarded with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence -- for the second consecutive year.
The company works with a team of professionals from throughout the Southland to provide the finest flowers, decorations, linens, tableware, tenting and comfort accessories to ensure that beautiful surroundings and a relaxed atmosphere complement the extraordinary cuisine offered by the catering kitchen.
Dickenson West Fine Catering works with a broad range of clients from the private, corporate and non-profit sectors. Over the past few months, clients have included numerous entertainment companies, law firms, hospitals, universities, museums, financial institutions and private parties.
